Mareesa Nicosia
200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher

Mareesa's passion for creative self-expression through movement and words is rooted in her early dance and gymnastics training, as well as her career in journalism. After 15 awesome & adrenaline-fueled years as an education reporter, Mareesa began a transition into the health and wellness field in 2022. This mid-career shift was prompted by a sudden illness and injury that forced her to slow down and re-prioritize her health.

In 2024, she completed yoga teacher training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and founded Inner Sage Yoga, a mobile yoga studio. Her mission as a yoga educator and writer is to inspire others - especially people with invisible disabilities, like herself - to befriend their bodies. In her classes you will learn how to harness the power of yoga to improve your functional movement and regulate your nervous system.

As a TIR (trauma-informed and responsive) teacher, Mareesa leads with curiosity, empathy, and compassion for self and others. She is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive classroom environment that supports and celebrates all bodies, genders, and abilities.

She currently teaches chair and mat yoga at Open Door Family Medical Center in Ossining, and works 1-1 with private yoga clients. Check out her free community yoga series hosted quarterly at Hendrick Hudson Free Library in Montrose.
